Glue/Adhesive on Garage Floor
Any ideas on how to remove an adhesive from a cement garage floor? My DH thinks the former owners had mats to park their motorcycles on. When they removed the mats, a sticky-gooey mess was left on the floor.
I've put old towels down and removed the stickiest (is that a word?) part. We sure would like to get the rest of it off! Thanks. |

Re: Glue/Adhesive on Garage Floor
When I had wood floors put down in a room which had previously been carpeted, the workers scraped off the glue that had been used to stick the carpet pad to the cement (slab) foundation. They used a big, metal scraper (about two feet long) with a very sharp blade. That glue was dried though - not sticky.
Does that help?

Re: Glue/Adhesive on Garage Floor
We'll give that a try. Maybe it will get most of it off. I think what is bothering DH now that most of the "stickiness" is gone is the discoloration. He may just have to live with that.
Thank you for the suggestion. |

Re: Glue/Adhesive on Garage Floor
Maybe there is something like Goo-begone, thats what I use on small things like labels on jar. But you would have to use a large amount of it. It only comes in small amounts.

Re: Glue/Adhesive on Garage Floor
try soaking it with mineral oil for a bit first. If that doesnt work, try heating it up with a hairdryer and scraping it off with a plastic scraper. A super hot wet towel and a scraper also works for some sticky stuff.
