Post funeral planning

A few years back mom & I went over what she wanted & I saved it to a laptop ... well the laptop crashed and I have nothing

I'm heading to mom's next weekend to redo everything

I'm taking a flash drive as well as a computer + I'm going to e-mail the stuff to myself, and I'm going to print it out too.

Anyone have any ideas of what I need to keep track of?

-name & location of funeral home
-what she wants to wear
-who does hair & makeup
-jewelry - does she want to be buried wearing it or who she wants to "hold it" until we settle the estate

-service: song(s), picture display

- name & location of cemetery

Re: funeral planning

I wonder would your mum like a eulogy?

I know my MIL recently deceased did not want anything said.
I think they can be lovely.

Re: funeral planning

My dad wrote his own obituary and told us which papers to have it published in (places where he had lived).

He also let us know who he wanted notified and in what order. (He had friends from all over the country)

Lizzy - I think DM has picked a eulogy - but I'll make sure

when aunt passed no one had really prepared anything (poor cousin ) - and the poor guy giving the service didn't know a thing about aunt (and he was trying to get something, anything personal to include - I gave my and then he was able to get my aunt's grandaughters to add)

Kaykay - those are great ideas

Re: funeral planning

whew ....

I now have everything in "multiplicut" (on DS's computer, flashdrive, printout, cyberspace)

I do need to follow up on some stuff ... but that's ok

Kaykay - thanks again for the suggestion about who to notify - DM really didn't care until I asked if she wanted me to call everyone in her planner. DM DID NOT want that ... so now I have a short list of names and phone numbers.

Good on you for doing this Snafu. How did you first bring the subject up?
