Re: Obama pledges to bankrupt Coal Industry

The thing is - no one can really explain what Obama's recipe for change is...

The only thing he has done is declare more government run programs.

He'll pay for these by cutting defense 25% (as per Barney - I can't control Fannie Mae - Frank)

He'll pay for these by taxing businesses (that will then pass the tax on to consumers)

He'll pay for these by increasing capital gains tax. (I hope no one is planning on selling a house - as 40% or better of the profits will go to the government.)

Would you like the one Scarborough did a couple days ago? Different person, same deal... couldn't explain what Obama HAS done.

Well, for one thing, his figures keep changing, and that pisses me off. First it was "if you make 250,000 or less", then "200,000", then Biden claimed it was "150,000" and finally Richardson the other day said "120,000". Which one is it? There is a big difference between 250,000 and 120,000.

I know I'm in the minority, but I don't see a problem with that. The US already has fewer social programs than most other industrialized nations. I don't see the problem in helping our own.

If that is true, it's definately a problem. We're at war. And, thanks to W. we have many world enemies. We need our military.

I have to think about that one. I'm not sure how I feel about it.

Where would you prefer the taxes come from? Do you have info on the 40 percent?

Re: Obama pledges to bankrupt Coal Industry

Push to 28% - on capital gains in the interest of "fairness"

http://www.usnews.com/blogs/capital-...ent-taxes.html

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=c4iy2OfScQE

I am looking for the 40% rate that I have read in a couple places... let me find the link for you.

Bottom line though - even 28% - almost 30% of profits from the sale of a home or cashing in of stocks - NOT GOOD..

Also - Have you seen the government run programs?

Let's see - I've worked for the government - there is NOTHING efficient about the US government running anything.

And in reality - I am all for cutting government spending overall.

Get rid of the jobs that are not productive and the duplicate positions.
Combine areas of government that are overlapping to the point of repeating themselves.
STOP allowing congress to pad bills with pet pork projects that feed their district

How many government expansion programs are you interested in?

Hey, wait a second! I just realized that's what this entire thread is! A republican telling us why we shouldn't vote for Obama!

How about having a president with the initials B.O.? It's coming down to that.
