Halloween

Only had about 35-40 ghosts, goblins, super hero's, princesses and parents come by last night. Guess I could safely say that was about average. Our Jack Russell, who wants to be everyone's friend, laid by the door waiting for kids to ring the door bell.

At one point during the evening my wife and I were outside with the bowls of candy watching the kids come down the street. This one group of about five kids was at our neighbors house and when the got their candy from the neighbor they went back up the street (LOL <shrug>) completely bypassing the rest of the houses in the cul-de-sac.

Trick or treating is a completely different phenomenon now than it used to be. Nowadays kids have to be so careful - they probably only went to that neighbor because their parents instructed them to only go to houses of people that they knew.

We had probably about 30-35 kids, but that's up from previous years. In our area, the kids have other alternatives, like a big Halloween party at the zoo, trick or treating at the mall, etc. Our next door neighbors' kids/grandkids (both sides) and across the street neighbors didn't even come by. I know I'd do the same thing if I was a parent of young 'uns now. Halloween used to be so hard to juggle!

Unlike the rest of the neighborhood, I live on a hill. I watched kids go up and down the road for 3 hours and only one was brave enough to walk up the hill.

One of my co-workers went all out decorating ... They only got 1 kid

I had about 80 kids this year which was surprising since the temp was in the low 40's.

Maybe they were being generous and leaving more candy for the other kids!
