I'm actually getting excited about doing things for me (even though DH is retired, he's just as busy)
next week I'm planning on going to an outdoor climbing seminar, I got a second/part time job, planning on doing outdoor activities on the weekends (DS has even suggested that we meet up at ______ - where we've been climbing before {even taken some of his friends too} as it is a 30-40 minute drive from college for him

I've been fine
I feel I've done a good job and his independence is a reflection of that.

I have hit empty nest hard (says the wailing banshee)
My first X-mas since my mom passed My DS's last X-mas before he graduates college & he plans to go to his dad's/my ex's for Christmas - he's working an unpaid internship for the University and I don't know when he'll be home (great job experience - he was told at a career fair to apply for openings due to this experience)

This transition is really hard for women, snafu. What are you doing to help with the adjustment? Your advice would be very helpful. My youngest is off to college next year and I need to prepare.

I was fine with DS going away to college - its the fact he's graduating and will never "live at home" again
Is there anything you really want to learn but have never had time? I'm going to try to sign up for a foreign language class, I also want to sign up for quilting classes this summer. How long until you retire?

a friend of DS's moved here from out of state (his family is far away)
I'm trying (but sometimes failing) not to "mother" him - sigh I just keep reminding myself he IS NOT my emotional support
