Looking to talk about life's up's and down's

Sometimes life can be difficult and depressing.
I'm looking for someone who doesn't mind talking about life and depressing situations, and doesn't mind giving ideas, or advice.

Red face Re: Looking to talk about life's up's and down's

My husband was in and out of the hospital about 7-8 times during March and April. He has heart failure and kidney disease. His doctors say he's doing so much better than most of their patients, and say they wish others would work as hard as he does in getting a bit better. He also has 2 discs missing in his back. So, life isn't much. Can't go to many places or do many things, which means tv, and an occaisional movie is about it. I haven't been happy about that, because I enjoy doing things. Also, I work in a funeral home, and it makes me feel depressed because I'm constantly reminded of death. I have been looking every day for another job, no luck yet. We don't have friends. Too many limitations anyway. Had a few in the past when he worked. He wouldn't want them to know about his condition anyway.
What a life! I'm tired of being depressed.

I'm sorry that you feel stuck.

Can you get out to walk or do you struggle with your own mobility issues?

Re: Looking to talk about life's up's and down's

I really don't have any mobility issues except for my feet, once in awhile, and if I rest them after work, I'm usually okay. Working a physical labor job and starting at 4:30 am, surely doesn't make things easy. Many times, it's depressing to hang around the house with him. You are right, I am stuck, but need to find the road out for a break, often.

Re: Looking to talk about life's up's and down's

I strongly advise you look for a caregivers support group in your area for support. Along with feeling "stuck" come feelings of guilt, anger, resentment, all of which may trigger physical and mental illness for the caregiver.

Have you ever pursued that avenue?

No, I haven't thought about that for me, because not a paid caregiver.
I guess I need to research it, call and maybe that'll help.
Thanks for your help. Very nice.

Re: Looking to talk about life's up's and down's

yanno, I have a suggestion, which might benefit both of you...
I started watching the Outlander series on Starz....it's awesome and my sister read all of the books, she said they were great....why don't you go to the library and start the first book of the Outlander series, read it together outloud.?
or another story that you both might enjoy?

Could you have maybe a family member or several over for dinner on a Sat. evening? Or for dessert and coffee?

I agree with Lucy about a caregiver....

and anytime your down, come in here and write away....it's good theropy...

Is your husband in a wheel chair?

No he's not in a wheelchair, but he does have back problems and his doctor is supposed to be checking with the insurance company about options. He's not much of a reader, the only thing he likes to do is watch regular t.v. shows, movies on t.v., and football. I've been thinking about taking a class for mortgage loan origination, but it costs too much for us at this time. Going home and studying after a physical job is a lot to do. I know I need to get in a caregivers support group but I haven't found one in my area, and I didn't know I could go to one because I'm not a paid caregiver. I wanted to say I appreciate the responses. Just knowing that someone takes the time to read my issues. Thanks
