It's a boy!

Dear all,

I have great news! My younger son was born 10 days ago. I had
pre-eclampsia and was hospitalized on week 33.5. The doctor hoped to keep me in the hospital for couple of weeks, but my blood pressure really sky-rocketed in several days, so the doctor insisted that the baby needs to be born. And so they did c-section on week 34. The baby is 5 pounds and is doing well. He is still in neonatal care in the hospital and they'll keep him another week or two. But he is doing very well, gained 100 grams over one day yesterday.

I am just back from the hospital (spent more than 2 weeks there) and the little one will be at home soon too.

Thank you all for your advices about pre-eclampsia and for your thinking about me, they really helped me to go through this. And there were very scary moments.

You didn't ask but I'm going to say anyway, so feel free to tell me to shut up. Please make sure you have someone irl (other than DH) to talk to about those moments. We women carry those events differently and you'll find the emotions resurface at different times. It's normal and a healthy part of the recovery process, but can be trying if you're holding it all in.

Take care of yourself and your boys!

Thank you 1dil, by the time I got to the hospital, I already understood how serious this condition is, and when my blood pressure got to 200/120, I was very scared. I feared to get a stroke before they took the baby out. And I was very scared of c-section, but was even more scared to go through a vaginal labor with this blood pressure. And I worried the baby would not make it. Put shortly, I was in a state of constant fear for several days.

But I think, my fear was nothing compared to the fear my parents went through, because I was subconscious most of the time, and I had headake, and I went through non-stop measurements and procedures, so i did not have much time to fear. But my parents spent all this time in a fear. My parents told me afterwards that, first, they hope I won't dare go into childbirth again, 2 children are perfectly enough for them. Enough is enough they said. Second, they are very happy I only have boys, so that I won't go through this fear myself. Dad: "I am so glad you don't have daughters and won't need to survive their childbirth."

Congratulations to you and DH April! I am so happy that you and baby are doing so well after such a scary delivery (I had c-sections with both my girls).
