Princess
Princess has had a decrease in appetite and been tanking up on water.
She's 15 yr old, DH and I are going to keep an eye on her.

Re: Princess
Check her litter box... she may be constipated. As cats age, arthritis makes it difficult for them to use the litter box.
My sole remaining cat is 19. She went through that decreased appetite and drinking lots period too. I started giving her food to loosen up her bowels and I'm glad to say that she has her appetite back. She still drinks tons of water, but that's not a bad thing.

Re: Princess
She's extremely finicky about her dried food, however she loves certain canned food.
I gave her two meals of canned and the results showed in the litter box. Yuck 😝 Guess I'll need to do the canned food more often. Thanks for the suggestion kaykay.

Re: Princess
Canned food helped for a bit, now she's back to not eating "normally".
Her behavior is normal I made an appointment for the vet tomorrow.

Re: Princess
the vet gave princess a cortisone shot (nothing was wrong with her teeth, mouth, nor guts)
she ate when we got home ![]() I wonder if cats can get heartburn I was also told (after I asked) that IF I wanted I could try some of the high calorie pregnant/nursing mother canned kitty food - small can - to see if she'd eat it; then if she did mix it with other food.

Re: Princess
As she's no longer eating dried food (
![]() ![]() Right now we give her 1-2 spoonfuls at a time, multiple times a day. I've discovered that she will no longer eat "whitefish and tuna", but will chow down on "turkey & liver" (1/2 can in one sitting)

Re: Princess
She eats, which is fine. But then she tanks up on water (sometimes), which leads to massive barf puddles. 😵

Re: Princess
Do you have her water dish near her food dish? I read somewhere a long time ago that cats should have their water dish a distance away from their food dish. I'm not sure why.
