Compulsary schooling here is:
Primary, years 0-6, children are generally 5-10.
Intermediate, years 7&8, children are generally 11 and 12,
High school, years 9-13, children are generally 13 - 17.

I think you can leave school once you are 16.

Thank you for all the useful comments. I actually have created a chart in Words to document the good stories that I have heard from this forum.

I didn't realize even different states has different school systems. In Illinois it's elementary 1st-5th, middle school 6th - 8th, high school 9th - 12th. In Taiwan though it's 1st-6th, 7th-9th, then 10th-12th.

KayKay I LOVED the story about your daughter's shoes can be used in the trunk to stablize groceries. What an innovention! Also I wonder what's the percentage of moms that does their daughters' hair before 9 years old...

Just an FYI - it depends on where you're at in IL - sigh

I've seen k-4 elementary, 5-6, intermediate, 7-8 Jr High, and high school 9-12
