Re: What odd habits do your pet(s) have?

it was fun reading these posts, great thread.

My little guy, a Bichon, loves to play this game in the morning.

I greet him hello, and he sits up close beside me, then, without warning, he falls into me...as if someone pushed him over....then I pat him, and he gets up and does it again and again...almost like he enjoys making me laugh...

he is one sweet lil doggie....

Re: What odd habits do your pet(s) have?

Both our cat and dog love to chase the laser light - what's great is they take turns

Pita (kitty) kicks Tallie (med-to large sized dog) off of the large dog bed every night. The cat is allowed on a pet blanket on the couch, she has her own cat sized bed, and a chair in front of window. Why must she steal the dog's only bed? And why does the dog just let her?? Pita walks up to he sleeping dog and starts batting at her with her paws, then the dog just gets up, steps off the entire bed, and lays back down next to it. The cat then curls up in the very middle of the bed that's way to big for her.

If one gets a treat (or medicine) the other thinks they must get something, too.

The cat will not use her own water bowl. We had gotten a smaller one for her that was her size, on the ground, and by her food. Our previous cat would not drink out of the same bowl as the dog, ever. Pita refused to drink out of her own bowl, and instead shares with the dog - that's not so odd, but...the bowl is a good foot off the ground! We have Tallie's food and water bowl in one of the metal stands so she doesn't have to strain to use them b/c of her arthritis, so the cat has to get up on her hind legs and stretch over and into the bowl to drink.

Pita likes to hide and jump out to try to scare us and the dog. But she's terrible at the hiding! She thinks if she just crouches down, we can't see her.

Re: What odd habits do your pet(s) have?

I'd forgotten about this but the kids' TP war reminded me.

Years ago, when ex DH & I were starting out, we had a cat that loved to play with the toilet paper. We'd get home from work & discover either toilet paper strung thru the house, the roll clawed/torn up, OR the cat curled up sleeping in a pile of TP.

We couldn't shut the bathroom door, because that's where the litterbox was. I eventually trained him to leave the TP alone.

Re: What odd habits do your pet(s) have?

Our male cat, Ghost, likes to play with DS's toys - really! Ghost sometimes likes to leave some small lego contraption, that DS has made, in the middle of my bedroom door (he does this during the night, when everyone is sleeping).

I used to blame DS for hotwheel cars, toy soldiers/cowboys, and legos, etc. left lying about. He'd swear he'd put everything away. I started helping him put stuff away right before he'd leave for his dad's (my ex) & I'd still find stuff out a day later that I knew I put away. DH & I couldn't figure it out until ...... Ghost walked up to us with a hotwheels car hanging from his mouth - he'd bite one tire & carry it to the kitchen to play (things slide sooo much better on tile floors). After that I examined DS's toys & discovered bite marks on several of them .

I think he's offering you gifts. Our alpha male cat does that (although he leaves cat toys and Barbie accessories) and I read somewhere that it was intended to be a gift. (May not be true, but I liked the idea. )

Lol KayKay, do the dead, dying, or very much alive mice/rats/wetas(native insect)/baby birds count? - I don't like the mice, they go and live in the pantry. Well, at least for a few hours until they get erm... evicted!

Re: What odd habits do your pet(s) have?

Years ago & had a cat that got preggers . I then kept her inside (yea...I know too late- but I think I was told she was too young to get preggers/fixed)

I set up all sorts of places where she could have her kittens - instead she curled up against me in bed (under the covers) right before she noticeablely went into labor. Needless to say, I didn't sleep in my bed that night.

I've heard of cats having kittens in odd places, but never in someone's bed - WHILE they're in it .

Re: What odd habits do your pet(s) have?

Snafu- when I was little we had a cat that did exactly that, my mom woke in the middle of the night to find Witch and 5 kittens on the other pillow LOL!

We have 2 cats, sisters, and the one absolutely loves onions. She will pull an onion out of the mesh bag and slowly and methodically claw the outside skin off of it to play with. I think she likes the crinkly noise. Her sister will come up to me and meow when I'm at the stove until I open the cupboard door- then she'll go in and sit quietly until her sister comes by at which point she will leap out hissing at her and then very quickly run away. She's the dominant cat, by the way.

When we had our dogs they both loved to sleep with me- which would work great if they didn't weigh 100 pounds each. And the younger one had to be seat belted into the car if we went anywhere- if you didn't belt him in he would crawl into my lap and whine until he could hang his head out the window. While I was driving. Again, not the best idea with a 100 pound dog ROFL!

Re: What odd habits do your pet(s) have?

A friend and I once "babysat" another friend's dog (a very cute, friendly, & well behaved dalmation).

Anyway, my friend had 2 cats that had free run of the house only at night time, when his dogs were in thier crates (one of his dogs was a little dumb-she really liked the cats but would play too rough with them). Soooo, our other friend's dog shared my bedroom with me-I volenteered. Little did I know that the dog was a total bed hog (I couldn't budge her- she was pure muscle & wanted to be clooose to me - she missed her "daddy" ). She was also a "gas factory" ALL NIGHT!!! Needless to say I refused to share my room with her another night.
