Go and be distantly polite. You do not want other people around you to be uncomfortable. Should you end up in the same group, make a polite greeting then excuse yourself for some other reason. Otherwise, avoid them.

How old is your oldest? I think you are making a mistake by not being open about how untrustworthy they are. As a parent, it's your job to help them identify people who are not "safe." If your oldest is an adult, though, she may have to learn on her own. Be kind and help her to pick up the pieces. (((hugs)))
