One of my students last year taught me how to knit.

I've (finally) finished a baby blanket and have started on what is supposed to be a 3 x 5 affagan

I was just thinking last night that I need to learn how to knit. I can crochet, but I think I'd like knitting better.

The "circular" needles drive me nuts when they are first out of the package (but I'm too impatient to let them "relax"/untwist/uncurl before I start using them).


I do much better with the larger sized needles.



I just sorted thru my yarn stash .... I've got enough to make 7 more baby blankets

I've made a "lap robe" for DS, and am almost finished with another baby blanket (learned to purl and create the "stockinette" pattern)

Next pattern I'm trying is called "thorn". I need to learn/practice slip stiches so I can work up to the lottis pattern.

Turns out I need more practice/to be more proficient to do the there pattern. 😕

I ended up ripping out what I had (less than 2 rows) and am doing another stockinette blanket.

I hate the yarn I'm using right now.... the color is fine, but the yarn itself "splits" a lot :(

I gave up on that yarn - I may just give it away (with the caveat that its crappy)


I am in the process of making a baby blanket for a coworker....and once that's done I intend to make one for another co-worker.

I'm taking a class (knitting 1) and have improved, and am faster.

I discovered in knitting class I was knitting weird - now that I'm knitting correctly a baby blanket takes a lot less yarn - instead of 4 1/2 skeins per blanket, it takes a lot less.

I have way too much yarn now. :eek: my stash overflows
